multiple shoe personality disorder

Although my shoe game is nowhere near Jane's, I have my own little comfy niche in the fashion blogging world when it comes to tacky stripper shoes. I am the guru of shady shoe situations and have amassed most of my favorite and well worn shoes through stripper shoe webstores, sex stores and actual stripper recommendations.

Shoes are usually the only thing I bother splurging on, mostly because I've had bad memories with vintage shoes at a cheap price so I'm forced to go for new shoes. I'm a really picky shoe person though. I don't like buying knockoffs, and it befuddles me when knockoffs cost almost as much as the actual shoe they're ripping off from (COUGH I CAN NAME A FEW POPULARBLOG!SHOEBRANDS THAT ARE KNOWN FOR THIS, COUGH) so usually I don't even bother. I do obsess over shoes on a daily basis though, and that one pair of Stella McCartney's Kate Lanphear wore?? Those were the first thing I ever saved up from fashion wise I think. I finally got like $550, JUST enough to buy a pair online, but they sold out of my size the day before. Those shoes are cursed I think because every time I have enough money for them some circumstance prevents me from getting them. OH WELL SO WHAT WHO CARES sobs I will die alone without those shoes and my life will be incomplete

new shoes: prim and proper

Anyway I got these in the mail (finally) a few hours ago. I've been wanting a pair of creepers for almost as long as I've wanted Rocking Horse shoes -- which I still don't have, sadly -- and at 4 in the morning two weeks ago I stumbled upon this shady sex store shoe warehouse outlet website with horrible design and questionable customer service and was like, "I don't care if the reviews for the website suck I want them give them to me I don't care if they are too small they are perfect and cheap give them NOW" and so I got them and immediately passed out on my keyboard.

Oh, did I mention they were 20 dollars including shipping????????? HAHAHAHA! And luckily they fit perfectly.

dorothy

My gramma got me a pair of Dorothy slippers when I was about nine or so but they were too small so I never got to wear them. I'd spend a good hour trying to curl my feet enough to be able to put them on but it never happened. I've wanted a pair of ones that fit me for ages, and these are them. Got them at a costume store in the sexy costume section for like, $30? I've gotta spray them with gloss or something so the glitter doesn't fall off though.

schoolgirl marm

What I really dig about these is that they're clear. As in, CLEAR PLASTIC! It's great. I wanted a super versatile pair of creepers and these are it. One day you can be schoolgirl marmy like the above and the next you can wear cat socks and it gives off a whole 'nother vibe.

The heel is about four inches or so, I don't remember. I only like high heels... I've never been into kitten heels because they do nothing for me except make me trip a lot and make my calves look even shorter than they are. Not a good look because I'm barely 5 ft 2.

Necessary terrible gif of me clicking my heels together poorly is necessary. You can't tell but I am actually wearing knee high lace rights and a ruffly garter..... with my highschool sweatshirt because I'm the boss.

best ever.

DEVASTATINGLY AWESOME, AREN'T THEY? I am wearing them with some tights I got from Elizabeth awhile ago, they're from We Love Colors. I love We Love Colors, I need more stuff from them.

DSC_0076

The quality of the shoes is definitely nothing to write home about, but I think I prefer them kind of funky and trashy looking than if they were high quality leather or something because I'd be afraid of ruining them. I have been waiting for these shoes to arrive so I can debut my amazeballs lolita dress I got in early December off of ebay. FUTURE OUTFIT POST FEATURING BOTH ITEMS IS IMMINENT, I PROMISE YOU.

Anyway thats it! I was feelin' chatty today as you can tell. Hopefully you enjoyed my ramblings anyway? Much love.

Shoes Shoes Shoes and random things from last year

Been pondering what shoes to buy for fashion week or which ones to fix and figured a photo dump would be just fine for my musings. I went to Jeffrey's with Kristin the other day for a day of filming for French TV (Hi French people, please send me scans of the Elle article I was in? I never got one.) and spent most of the time making fun of her Balenciaga addiction -- yeah I'm one to talk right -- and fondling the Nina Ricci's and Proenzas on sale. If I had $420 to drop I would run back there and snap up the Nina Ricci fetish shoes so fast you don't even unnnastannnndddd.

Anyway. Back to shoes I like.

The two pairs above are by Andreia Chaves, and they are definitely making the rounds around the blogs, but here they are in case you haven't seen them. KINDA GORGEOUS AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT?

Here's a quote on her influences, which are not surprising but obviously totally awesome:

With influences such as Maison Martin Margiela, Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake., it’s clear that Chaves appreciates designers who provoke – and shatter - common perceptions that people hold. Chaves is currently focusing on her final collection – an exploration about the moving body - which is to be presented in February 2010.

Totally dope.

MY BAD, GUISE

Woops, I guess I went on an unofficial hiatus there huh? Life is busy busy busy busy busy. I hope you'll forgive me for not coming back with an outfit post.... pretty much all I can offer you is this. Please forgive me darlings, there hasn't been a day that's gone by that I haven't missed you all terribly. [okay, one day all i wanted to do was watch Hana Yori Dango and honestly it is a lot more emotional than blogging, I'm not gonna front] To beg for your forgiveness, I give you many things.

Dresses

Dresses we all need to band together and mob the stores for. You'll notice how a lot of these dresses are ALWAYS in my polyvores. This is because I'm really fucking obsessive over things I want and will obsess over them until I get them, then I will wear them to death (see: hooker shoes, prada lace skirt thrifted, my only comme skirt).

Skirts

I am very close to talking to the chinese knockoff store on the phone about the tsumori chisato knockoff skirts (the second and third) because I really need them in my life but like, you know, since they're coming from KNOCKOFF ASIAN SWEATSHOP POSSIBLE SCAMMERS you know I'm kinda hesitant.

Maybe if I speak to them in shitty Chinese they'll be all like, "Oh, it's my brethren, I totally wont scam you, and also here are 5 more things you might like to get for 2 american dollars because I love you so much." and not rip me off 60 dollars. Maybe I can discuss asian dramas with them to gain their trust. Good idea, y/y/y/y/y?

This polyvore is dedicated to Jane and her future husband, fishsticks.

would you like some boots with that gigantic needle

'Sup guys. I've been in and out of the hospitals for tests and stuff this month. It seems that I have like a seriously epic metabolism (I defeat you Zoe) and also they think I am insane and take drugs even though the drug test says otherwise. Yes, ask me if I take drugs in front of my parents. Of course I will tell you honestly. Of course! Why yes I have taken ecstasy, acid, angel dust and mushrooms. It's considered a dessert in my house. Here, have a snort. I just happen to keep cocaine and a cup of pee with me at all times as to thwart tests. Be prepared for anything, you know!

(Not really.)

In any case, whilst pondering the meaning of life in the brain scanner thing, I remembered coming across Gwendolyn Huskens some time ago. She is pretty epic. Note the epic below.

It's all made of medical supplies!
aiming to reveal the taboos associated with physical deformities, her collection of cream and skin-toned footwear for women is made from medical materials and supplies such as plaster bandages, steel and band-aids.
the result is a line of functional and oddly stylish shoes.
Screw the lollipops. I want footwear from the doctors office. Please and thank you.

P.S I'm featured in November French Glamour along with Jane from Sea of Shoes. If someone could scan me / send me the magazine, I'll reimburse you for shipping. Thanks guys!

what the shit

Jacket: Smithsonian Institution, Shirt: Goodwill / Gap, Jeans: Kill City, Shoes: Etsy

MY NAME IS ARABELLE AND I AM ABOUT TO KILL SOMETHING DEAD.

I put these shoes on. Yay new shoes! Yay having an income to buy shoes!

*walk around*

*SICK SQUISH NOISE*

HEEL IS CRACKED. I AM NOT FAT. WHAT THE HELL. The heel is cracked down the middle, if I wear it it'll get worse! Le sad.

THANK YOU MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN. I got these like 30 minutes ago.

....can i superglue it? WILL I HAVE TO GO GHETTO AND DUCK TAPE IT? because i am going to get my $30 worth if I have to sacrifice my firstborn or what. D: i am not kidding. (of course I am.)

Sadface. I'm going to go to a cobbler, I suppose. After the mountain of paperwork I've yet to finish. This will go in the "must fix" pile of shoes I have steadily accumulated: 7. Damn.

02 August 2008

god dammit

How bad ass hooker fabulous are these? I want to hate them but they've been on my mind since they first hit the blogosphere a few months ago. I really should hate them because they could seem so tasteless on some chicks but paired with a frothy dress or a bubble skirt and sheer crayola knee high socks they scream to me GETT MEEE ANDD BECOMMEE A HOOOKERRRRR.

So yeah. I'm off to hooker camp so when these babies come in the mail (and oh, they will) I shall be all prepped to don my pink lacey dress (you know, the one in my head) and boa (I have several) and parade out like it ain't no big thang.

I've been in the house too long. ABIGAIL. SAVE. ME.

*I am not actually going to hooker camp. Just west side avenue to feed the starving hookers. It's a pastime of my family when we get bored..... I'm only half kidding.

09 June 2008

it's so effing hot i think my sweat is sweating

Yesterday it rained at night, a welcome change from the utterly retarded weather we've been having. I went outside and danced in the rain. In heels. After this wonderful moment of stupidity and freedom, I threw them off and just sat down on the curb, letting the rain shower down upon me. It was wonderful.

Don't ask me about the weird tones, I have no idea...

My dads reaction to my outfit today was pretty funny.
*prior to seeing my shoes* "Wow, don't you look All-American."
*sees shoes* "....an all-american hooker."

My dad is my favorite douche in the world.

Speaking of daddy, he found jewelery my Uncle Henry made. It's wonderful, really, exactly my taste in jewelery: morbid!

Can't wear it right now 'cause I don't have a proper chain for it. AHEM ZOE WITH HER JEWELER MOTHER WITH HUNDREDS OF CHAINS LYING AROUND AHEM COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH.

The shoes were recieved really well by people in school. If they didn't kill my feet I would wear them every day. SO glad I got them.

Speaking of shoes... since I know my little spree was well recieved (thanks guys!) there's a little contest going on in game-form. Check it out, you might win a $250 spree at Marshalls! Tell me what you think of it.

If all goes well tommorow I'll have another small bounty to show you guys next post. Look at these until then.

07 June 2008

don't talk about frenching your dog when i'm already in the nurses office

So i went shopping today. The shop above, F21, I didn't actually buy anything in because it was mayhem as usual and the line was ridiculous. I did really enjoy the storefront though. I wish people would do this with what they bought there instead of your typical slouchy boots and skinnies.

Summary of my trip. Click to enlarge, natch.

Blah blah blah, anyway this is what I ended up getting. From Marshalls, which I actually have been dying to get back to to buy the shoes I wanted before. I went to Marshalls Shoe Megastore (two of them) and strangly enough, the smaller one had the shoes I wanted more. I didn't settle until we went back and these were the last 7.5 left, the black ones.

I heart them so. I was debating whether to get the blue gladiators from last time as well as these. I narrowed it down to those from 7 previous, aren't you proud? Everything I liked was half the price of what they'd usually go for so it was pretty satisfying to go to the register and know how much I was saving. So many choices....I'm going back next week....unhealthy obsession in 3,2,1..

The shirt is almost long enough to be a dress on me but it's alright as a top nevertheless. Denim cut offs scream to me with this shirt. It reminds me of whipped cream and The Science of Sleep. (favorite movie ever, by the way.) I wasn't sure if it was my style but what's fashion if not experimentation? From Marshalls theCube.

Close ups of everything.

Dress, black shoes, white skimmers.

So I' going to watch Amelie now and drink tea. Night.

05 March 2008

it was a dark room and i just had to do it.

Warning: Badly written short story of my day. But what post on this blog isn't a badly written story about my day? Anyway. Go forth, you've been warned.

The four girls trudged along, fighting against the wind and bitter cold with bright stockings and killer hair. Having just been dismissed from school, the four teenage girls were both suitably exhausted and extremely anxious to get to their sanctuary--their saving grace--their store.

Another Man's Treasure.

*insert trumpets here*

Oh yes, too long had past since they had been in the store, and the girls were almost trembling to paw through the racks of vintage clothing and racks of gorgeous shoes. They could almost hear the music of the store in their ears.....

They turned the knob to enter.

AHHHHHHHHH, SALVATION. MY HOME. MY JOY. MY SHOES.

Ok, enough of that. It wasn't that dramatic. (I only hugged the racks twice.)

But yes, It's been probably a month and a half since I've been to Another Man's Treasure, which is the best thrift store in my area. I missed it terribly, but I've been reluctant to go until I saved up $80+. I spent $20 or around that yesterday so I did have that much on me at one point, but I decided to just go today because Abigail was going to strangle me otherwise. I don't think blue would be a nice skin color for me, so I just said hell with it and off we went.

I was a bit disappointed with the clothes, but it was kind of understandable that the racks weren't as promising because the last time we went, there was a huge t-shirt and sales rack. No more, sadly.....half the t-shirts rack had been stolen and the entire sales rack with it. Both were displayed outside the small shop before and after the robbery the store owner decided to get rid of it completely. I was in shock and still am. I have no doubts it was the local school, but that doesn't make it any better.

Still, I went through the shoes and dresses dutifully. The dresses I wanted from last visit were still there but weren't marked down any so I just went over them. There was this great oversized T-shirt I wanted to buy but $25 for a big T is a bit much when I could probably get one from my Uncle's House for free. So I skipped over it and just looked around.

D: So disappointing! Nothing caught my eye (or my wallet to be more honest with myself) and I was about to leave, when a flash of black and white caught my eye. I craned my neck to see past Zoe's huge shoulder (haha, Zoe) and I went through the motions.

These are the motions:
  1. Wail. "OH MY GOD" "AHHH" "HOLY MACKEREL" or something to that effect. I am a dramatic shopper, let it be known.
  2. Point frantically. Avoid poking people's eyes out when doing so.
  3. Demand the price and size.
  4. Squeal and run away in a circle while waiting.
  5. Begin process again if size and price is right.
Oh yes. I went through all the motions. Very much so. But how often is it when you see something you hear church bells? Not very often for me. But I had good reason.

I shall let you dwell upon this for tonight. That is all.

Edit: Nevermind.

CHRISTIAN WON. YES LIFE IS SWEET. All is right in the world and the flowers pick themselves! Or at least for tonight. VICTORY.

FIERCE.
