happy birthday

Continuation of the shoot I posted the other day. Everything is vintage and/or thrifted with the exception of these shoes, which were gifts from Filthy Magic, and you can get a 15% discount off your order using the code FASHIONPIRATE I think.

Styling and modeling: Me.
Makeup and Hair: Candice Crawford
Photography: Meagan Cignoli

It's the blogs 4th birthday today! And my 19th. It's been a journey, hasn't it? Thank you for taking it with me, old visitors and new. I've got a deeper post planned that will be setting the tone for the next year in blogging for me -- call it a manifesto -- and that'll come on Monday. For now I'm just happy to be where I am, which is away from the computer, with friends, surrounded by clothes and music and lots of wine. Hope you're having a blast. Ehugz and lots of love.

rainbow blood and sequin horns

A few months ago -- okay more than a few, time flies -- I got together with an amazingly talented photographer and makeup artist and we did two different shoots in one day. Here are photos from one of them. Details will be running on the makeup and hair over at powderdoom later on in the week (to be determined, our queue is always changing). I'm so happy how they came out, and so in awe of Meagan and Candice's work.

I don't want to SPOIL YOU ALL and show you all of the photos at once, so here are the few of several. It was super fun to do this shoot, I used all of my own wardrobe and just wore stuff I do usually. This is one of my favorite outfits to wear, actually. All of it is vintage and/or thrifted, with the exception of the shoes, which are from some sex store ($40 steez) and the clips, which are from ban.do that they kindly let me borrow for the shoot and was sad to send back.

The purpose of this particular shoot was just to have fun, start with a blank canvas and bring it -- and my outfit choices -- into life and color. We started off with a essentially a very white outfit, plainer hair, then built up the color palette of my clothes and the makeup and the hair and I went to town with paint. It was really, really fun, and I still have the canvass somewhere in my house. That blazer still has some orange paint on one of the cuffs as a fond reminder.

Anyway, the blogs 4 year anniversary is around the corner -- Saturday! -- and also my 19th birthday -- also Saturday, lolz. I'll put up some more photos from the shoot then, and also a surprise for you. :) Thanks for sticking around.

oh yes kamahaze-sama I am a ghost exterminator

Great weekend. Photoshoot with some awesome people (Hi Aya, Evonne, Kristin, Anthony, etc) and I have never seen so much Comme des Garcons in such a close vicinity. I die. I die. Bananas. I die. Thank you ten trillion fold guys.

Sorry for the shiteous pictures. It was like 8 p.m in crappy fluorescent lighting. Deal. P.S Kristin, I lost your email! *sends thank you mind waves*

Todays ok outfit. Nothing special, just comfy and warm. Also MY NEW REFRIDGERATOR. His name is Chaaaaarrrrles.

I am going to be attending this:

as V.I.P press and you're all welcome to come! Thanks to the amazing Katherine K., I will (fingers crossed!) be able to interview Jill and Sabine. I would love to see you guys there, but if you can't go, comment or email me with questions you'd like asked in my interviews with them!
I will be recording the interviews if I can so this is your chance to ask influential people in the Industry what ever you please. USE IT.

ain't no big thing, the earth just got a little smaller

To all the NYM Tavi skeptics and or/ haters, it's perfectly normal to be jealous of a 12-year old girl. If you didn't detect the sarcasm in that you should probably leave this blog, as it holds no merit for a dead monstrous soul such as yours.

Enlarge, natch.

I haven't seen Batman yet, unfortunately. No doubt I'll be toting these shades when I go.

It was really fun to put these looks together in my head, I hope you guys enjoy them. My camera attempted suicide twice today: the battery lid slid off and the battery plummeted 25 feet, and the other time the camera fell 6ft onto the hardwood floor. My blood pressure probably sucks right now.

Tommorow you'll see the video/(s), perhaps. That is, if it decides to upload. (I tried today, no dice.)

Cheers.

edit: in before "your hair looks odd" anons. There was no A.C in the house. That's right, I wore a winter blazer for you people in 90 degree weather. I'm allowed to look like hell.

house sitting and oh my god that mouse is doing acrobatics

That quick&dirty job I talked about previously is actually dog/house sitting. Not very dirty, heheh. The money is pretty nice but the house is so pretty and huge I'd probably have done it for free. Probably. Expect more pictures; it's painfully photogenic. Clawed foot tubs and spiral staircases oh my.

That pillow would be an amazing clutch or dress, wouldn't it?

Click to enlarge; I guess I resized them a bit too much. The colors are so pretty! I'm going to go find some shirts to DIY and some zippers. Woot. Cheers. :)

i might be going to hell but i'll have jonas brothers and chopstick numchucks by my side

AHHHHHH if I tilt my head I'm afraid my brains will come spilling out and attack me for putting it through the torture of ABC Family ''Rock Camp'' and bitchslap fights with Abigail in the car. By the way bitch, my head STILL HURTS.

Summary of days thus far:
You have no idea how hard I laughed taking these pictures....I would totally kick butt on ANTM. Yes? Yes. Random animation. Blogger points if you know who I was honoring with my jump.

The day before today, what I wore and what I did:

I also slept in a tree for two hours. It's my favorite spot, twenty feet up and a panoramic view of the park. I'll take a picture of it soon.

I get emails from readers about blogging and whatnot and I'd like to say to those who've asked: I love comments, but I love knowing my readers just as much! It's cool that some ladies get 50+ comments plus, but I'm happy with the ones I do get. I just like making people smile and being narcisstic and blogging about myself and fashion seems to work. It's a win-win situation, you know? Don't get put down by looking at the number of comments, just concentrate on the enthusiasm within those and go with the flow. You'll get what you earn. It's not a popularity contest unless you make it. Have fun! That's the point.

Cheers.

i sold my soul for spiderman ice cream and also, i am psuedo hindu

Wooo, this week was super cool. Not in the way that I won the lottery or anything (although if half the messages I get were true I'd easily buy out Rupert Murdoch, jesus) but there were a bunch of little things that just made me smile. Some being:
  • Midnight saxophone serenade in the park to go to sleep by
  • Ice cream every day
  • Free vintage jewelery (thank you Vee!)
  • Going shopping tommorow
  • I won $34 million invisible moneys

The things I'm best at are: making fun of myself and Abigail. The second thing is awkward posing. This showcases both. Don't you feel special.

What first struck me about this skirt is that it's just so...stiff. And kind of ugly. Actually, really ugly when you first look at it up close. I was literally repelled by this dress a few months ago. And then, it's not. I grew to love the weirdly angled, stiff pockts and the faded florals for what they were: effing awesome.

You know what it's like to really want something badly and you dream about it, and eventually you have random outbursts in classes/working environment in which you bark, "GAH I NEED SHOES RIGHT NOW"? Yeah. That's been happening the whole week. I'm going to go tommorow and will refuse to leave until I buy at least two pairs.

I'm thinking one black heeled sandal and one candy colored pump. Ninewest and Aldo, most likely. Any suggestions?

I'm off to watch The Science of Sleep and drink hot tea. There will be several posts over the weekend so see you then!

Also, this is my wonderful photographer. So she can never, ever say I don't credit her ever again. =B Isn't she elfish?

04 June 2008

hippie hipster gypsy caught a pidgeoto, oh shii~

Man, I am sopink.

Talking about my previous years as a hippie on a beach and a long, thought provoking conversation with Tavi about weird leggings, I woke up and decided to combine both. The scarfband caused somewhat of a sensation in school. I lost count of how many people asked if I could read their palms/see their future/defeat them in Pokemon battle.

By the way, I can do all three. I was also wiccan at one point so I learned palm reading and fortune telling and how to con people out of money using a glass ball. Also, I kick ass at Pokemon Crystal. Just sayin'.

I think this outfit (at the very least, the bottom half) was inspired by Disney Roller Girl's campaign for 'more is more'. I'm not very good at 'keep it simple', despite my infinite love for understated and clean. Simply put, I can't dress simple.

And also, I can't be bothered to brush my hair. Why would I waste my time with that when I can stare at Marc Jacobs 2009 Resort Collection? I love the dropped crotch and the accessories...and...yeah. Thats it.

I do see YSL influences in the piped robes but truly, they remind me of nightslips I have, and not in a particularly agreeable way. Dunno, he just isn't making me love it. Not to say I don't love him, anyway....a flower for the shoes.

Peace.
