A couple of months ago (TIME FLIES MAN) I am Rutgers approached me to do a video piece on me and another fashion blogger who goes to RU. The results are unintentionally hysterical because it just displays how completely different Melanie and I are! Seriously night and day but we both found our places in the community Rutgers provides. Have a watch and laugh hysterically at the contrast with me.
Have a good day my friends.

Um, I kindaaaaa don't feel like they should have paired you with this girl because you seem so much more interesting and unique. Which I kinda feel horrible for saying, but it's true.
*sorry, I'm a spazz and had typo issues!!!
Your accent and the way you speak remind me of my friend Max, who I met on exchange in the U.S in 2010 and also those shots of you walking to the bus stop reminded me of uni in Buffalo so much! It made me feel kind of nostalgic. I love the stripper shoes paired with those striped tights, it's like a take of the witch in the wizard of oz :)
oh gosh, the "I mainly shop at malls"..."I haven't been to a mall in 6 years" bit is too funny! I love what you say about your style though.
"I wore really ridiculous outfits just because I could."
Right? There's this period of time when I wear my shirts from 3rd grade(which still fits for some reason, hmmmmmmm), this one pair of high-waist shorts and just random things like Minnie Mouse ears.
Its interesting to see a comparison/contrast of two different types of blogger; showing all aspects of how people percieve fashion as self expression and art, or perhaps just to make themselves look and feel good :)
Yeah Arabelle! Super well-articulated. Aetherlilly is a beautiful little corner of the web, but her "umms" drove me nuts. You obviously put a lot of critical thought into your writing/what your POV on fashion & blogging is and that came out in how you spoke.
This is going to be totally out of the blue, as I'm sure you've probably forgotten all about me, but this is Stephanie (from Fashion Robot back in the day). I didn't realize you went to Rutgers! I'm going to NYU right now, and my boyfriend just transferred to Rutgers this semester, so I actually visit the school every few weeks now! I'll tell him to keep an eye out for a girl with purple hair, he'd be super excited if he saw you since his hair is dyed blonde. I've been reading your blog this entire time so just figured I should say hi, especially since we're now living so close!
STEPHANIE!!!!!!!!! How could I ever forget you? We were mad close when you still blogged and you were the one who brought me and Tavi together! Are we friends on facebook? If we aren't we totally should be, it'd be rad to bump into you IRL one of these days! Come to a basement show at RU or something, I'd love to see you!
You are so funny!!!
Arabelle, you're such a babe. Crushin' on you bigtime girrrrl
cool hair :)
Definitely a huge contrast between you guys but that made the video so much more interesting to edit. My office definitely thought it was hilarious on our end too. Almost didn't include the question with the stripper shoes and then I realized there was no way I couldn't. Thanks again for being interviewed and thanks for posting it up. :)
That was great. Hahahahaha.
haha I'm not sure if it was your intention, but I immediately thought of The Wizard of Oz when I saw your outfit :)
I think you look better without those braids...
cecilia.
I had no idea you went to Rutgers! I did my PhD there and am in talks to come back for a post-doc this summer. nice to see the old campus again.
1. i absolutely adore your blog & i've been following forevs
2. i can't believe you go to rutgers! i went to high school literally down the street (rutgers prep)
3. the contrast between you & the other girl is VAST but i really like video nonetheless
Your outfit reminds me of the Wicked Witch of the West, finally getting the red shoes haha. The contrast between you two is so blatant (which I love, definitely shows the two different spectrums of blogging), but the concluding statements from the both of you were pretty much the same in meaning, and one can definitely feel both of your passion for blogging because of it. *ramble ramble*
xx maggie
i laughed - out loud - at the juxtaposition of you "versus" her. and that's all i'm gonna say 'bout that. youre also the only "out" fashion blogger I've ever come across, which is inspiring. Your voice, your style = right up my alley. much love to you, girl.

I guess being different doesn't necessarily mean horrible. Whether it's fashion australia, US, or Europe, what's really important is how you carry the look.
One of the few good things internet had given to us for the field of fashion and designing is the appearance of blogs and sites that could help us make the work a lot easier. You know, you could mix n' match stuff, too come up with a lot more interesting and fascinating ideas you could surely use in reinventing anything, yourself included.
Being different is good, especially if you know how to pull it off. It doesn’t matter how much you accessorize or how ‘horrible’ you combine colors, as long as you can “carry the look” and make good impressions out of it. We all have different perceptions of ‘beauty,’ so whatever they think of you shouldn’t really matter.
Nice shirt and cap. Her fashion statement really evokes her playful spirit.
