this is why people think jersey children shoot their brothers in the face

prom horror

So apparently, this is where girls in my school are going to get their dresses for prom made?

Yes. I'm just going to sit here, and let that sink in for you guys..... oh, notice the darling white priest/gangsta jacket/coat/robes in such complimentary combinations such as acid green, lame, and lilac! Oh, and the lame robe gold.... toga?

prom horror

I don't even know, man. FML.

They do custom design for kids too! In case you need to bring your kid to prom, there's a little pimp outfit for him too.

These aren't even the worst I've seen. At least there aren't NBA jerseys and Gucci print in the mix.

*sigh*

I hurt.

I've always hated prom and the fashion associated with it. I went to prom and hated it. And I returned my dress (kept the tag on). Hopefully your school throws a good prom, despite the prospective eye-sores that will be present.

Cassiopeia said...

hehe. hilarious. they custom make it and then u rent it? doesn't really ring tru. not particularly econ / ecologically viable surely?!

i hope you're kidding, but hey, you know how fashion sometimes goes in circles? maybe in ten years time that'll all be the craze... OH WAIT - these never went into fashion, so they will never be able to "come back"...

(but on the topic of reading the word "priest", a few years ago for the Easter play at church i wanted to play Jesus, but they wouldn't let me, said because i was a girl. but i still always think it was something to do with being asian.)

yeah random story of my life. um back on the real topic, maybe if you want to outshine all the girls going you could further develop gansta by wearing a large run dmc tshirt and having a boom box as your bag/clutch/large clutch. that'll show 'em who's the prom queen - if that's something that exists in real american life, - sorry the only things i know about proms are from watching american movies like 'mean girls' and '10 things i hate about you'. LOL i feel so uneducated when it comes to "proms". haha.

much love, x

cavaán said...

oh, but i'm pretty sure there's nothing "educational" about them either. xd

zhuhuajun said...

oh dear god. please go to prom with a sewing kit.

or fire >D

cable_zombie said...

I dunno, I think I'd jump at any chance to get to wear a robe.

Ain't nothing wrong with a robe.

But yeah, it's not something everyone will admire. It's a burden all robe-wearers must bear.

Not everyone in New Jersey wears that! New Jersey is actually the richest state because we pay the highest taxes and only get 60 cents to the dollar back. A ton of really classy people live and grew up in New Jersey. For instance: Martha Stewart (grew up), Meryl Streep (grew up), Stephen Colbert (lives), Alexander Hamilton (grew up), Thomas Edison lived and invented pretty much EVERYTHING in New Jersey. Buzz Aldrin (grew up), Jack Nicholson (grew up), Bruce Springsteen (grew up). Okay? That's just A FEW. New Jersey is actually a really classy state if you actually bothered to look at anything except for that and "The Sopranos" for your opinion.

At first I thought this was from hotghettomess.com but then I realized it was an actual ad. I fear for the future of our country.

I had the pleasure of flicking thru a prom magazine the other day (I didnt buy it) and I too was speechless at many of the designs - the hairstyles, the makeup, everything! "Look, I too can put my hair in a shitty bun-thing and have a piece of hair at each side of my face!!"
VOM

this is scaring me.
like, really scaring me.

actually prom dresses scare me in general.
all in bad jewel tones with bedazzled cross straps.
and they all have their hair up in that ridiculous updo.

when i go to prom i'm wearing a cotton evening gown, with my hair down and i'll wear flowers in my hair and not match my date's suit.

Gloria said...

uh gag me silly. Why does everyone in NJ think they are a guido regardless?

Anonymous said...

Emily M-T, you're right, but just because people in New Jersey have money does not make them classy. And as far as celebrities go, Whitney Huston and Bobby Brown lived one town over from me and god only knows what kind of crazy whack crack they were doing in that huge house. Mike Tyson also had a house near there for awhile and my parents told me he threw a couch out the window once. But yeah. I mean great people do come out of NJ too, just like every other state. But it's certainly not because of money or class. What NJ thrives on are it's introverts. There's one in every one hundred who breaks the mold and does great things. Cause it's true what they say...only the strong survive.

Arabelle said...

new jersey might have edison, martha stewart, and hell, even if we produced jesus, that doesn't mean we're angels.

that being said, most of the celebs don't come from north jersey (?), and they certainly don't live here now, unless you count hoboken, but thats hipster so it doesn't really count for north jersey in summary compared to newark and union.

i know we produced some great people, but they don't make up for the fact we have gangs and all those terrible things. they are the exception. wonderful exceptions, but exceptions nonetheless. i don't live in the presence of edison or martha stewart, i live in the presence of the projects. my view is different from yours because we live in different parts of NJ.

and also, the shot the sopranos like a mile from my house. so. yeah.

citizenKane said...

woah, haha how very unoriginal of your friends.

but my friends would probs do the same thing, although I would personally rather make my own prom dress.

if you think you have gangs in Jersey, just wait til you get to Vancouver

My mom... she's just like this type of person! & you're right, specially THIS part i live in of Jersey's pretty lunatic when it comes to choosing "elegantly" or prom in general. All that glitters = epic fail. Not a big fan of it.

Booga said...

soooooo... what's with the title? Is it supposed to be that bad fashion makes people violent? ...or is it simply a play on trite stereotypes? hmmm

makemeadress said...

Oh my....wow.... I actually do a similar thing where you can design your own dress like fashion wheel and have it made, then customise it. Take a look at it www.makemeadress.com and please tell me it isn't like 'fashion design company'! No one has ever created something like those creations, our ladies all have a sense of style. I am getting a little worried now...... it is most entertaining though!

If i am you right now, I'm laughing my ass off. At least in the my area the private and public school kids we go crazy buying 1000 dollar gowns haha. They don't look like sluts. no offense.
