Mom's wedding leather top, Vera Wang for Kohl's Shorts c/o, Wanted Shoes c/o

Quick outfit post of what I'm wearing today before I head off for dinner with Kristin & Tavi. My hair looks strangely colored but it's really just the coloring of the photo - it looks way better irl.  Anyway, I'm off to dinner 'cause I want to spend quality time with my favorite people before I head off to Taipei for the next two months. I was actually in the midst of packing when I found this top! Backstory: it's my mom's wedding top, she designed it and wore it when she married my dad. I didn't know about that until I came downstairs and my dad told me about it. It's been in my closet ever since I can remember but I've never been able to fit into it until today.

It's definitely a more revealing outfit but considering I'm completely flat int he butt and boobs department it's not like it matters. I just find it uncomfortable to walk around in public because of catcalling but I really like this outfit so I'm just gonna do it anyway. I'm not wearing it for other people, it's just really comfortable and I feel like I belong in the Fifth Element. ^___^

Moo

I'm doing this blog thing all on my own -- no agent, no manager.... sometimes it is really aggravating and weird and I don't know what I'm doing but I also really like being in charge of everything. During fashion week it can be a bit hellish (let it be known I do have to ask for help and thank god for editors who do the dirty work!!) but other than that I'm really low key about business and blogging. I'm not doing this for a career, just for my own enjoyment and to reach people I care about, and whenever I feel like it's more about CA$H than genuine enjoyment I step back.

But there are some things I can't compromise on even when I want to be low key about blogging -- I definitely need business cards. Not only for this blog, but for my makeup blog, and for the events I attend. Networking, even if I'm not businessy, is so important when I want to keep in touch with cool people I've met through blogging. So I'm really happy that Moo contacted me about sponsoring me some cards. I had a look around the site and saw they sold stickers, too, and I'm really happy with them!

I got some stickers because I'm narcissistic and want to surround myself with not only pretty things (including my own face, hohoho) but reminders of things I care about. So Jenny Holzer & calloutqueen axioms and Frida and me, so I can plaster the alleyways and hallways and telephone poles and lockers with things that are important and pretty.

Got some Rookie stickers of my favorite photoshoot, heheheheh. Petra took the photos.

And finally the business cards! They came in such a lovely box & such a nice cardstock (they were the Luxe ones). I love considerate packaging.

Some readers knew that I was going to make stickers of my face (lol) and asked if I would be selling them. Sure, I guess, if you'd like! BTW, MOO didn't ask for me to post about these, but I've been fans of their products for several years (I've purchased business cards from them before & recommend them to everyone who asks!) and thought it'd be nice.

Marc Jacobs Resort 2012

I don't really talk about my favorite collections on here (only my faves!), that sort of off the cuff stuff I tend to do on my Tumblr if at all, but I felt like this one was deserving of a post.  I can't get it out of my head, it's so good! We all know how into color I am, but also my obsession with the often monochromatic and dark looks that come from CDG. I have a discombobulated fashion sense, really. I am more attracted to the ideas behind collections than any certain aesthetic I think, and the thread that weaves all my favorite designers together is a sense of camaraderie between the foundations of their design methods and what they are inspired by. They might not be similar kinds of clothes color wise or pattern wise but they might be inspired by the same kinds of things -- a powerful woman who doesn't give a damn what her husband thinks (a Rei Kawakubo quote), a powerful woman who has flipped her lid and is pushing against domestic life (a la J.W Anderson Pre-Fall).

This collection is right up my radar because it's inspired by Cindy Sherman and it's so obvious to me when you compare it side by side by her work -- her clown series and series of portraits (well, all of them are portraits really, I'm sorry I can't be more specific). It also reminds me of my childhood, though. The long floral skirts in the first picture reminds me of the first 'fashion' thing I really did for myself, my tablecloth skirts. Before I mucked up with them, they'd fall just like these Marc Jacobs skirts. I was initially really embarrassed by how different they looked compared to 'normal' clothes like jeans and the stuff I was wearing before I got into fashion, but I decided to embrace them and make them my own and seeing a high fashion version of them brings back a sweet nostalgia. :')

What I also like about this collection is the more is more youthful mentality I see -- it could easily be too old lady-ish (not that I'm not into that, HAVE YOU SEEN ME) but there are little things that make it really fresh to me. I enjoy how fresh and.. not minimal it is. Minimalism is lovely but I've never been a true fan of it, I'm a fan of more is more. I enjoy the different textures at play, being able to sit down and drown in fabric, to pool it around my legs, to clutch wads of tulle in my hands on the subway when I'm nervous, to see my body sparkle in the sunlight because I'm head to toe in sequins. It's fun. It's an experience, it's innocent. Minimalism doesn't give that to me, not really. It's too cool and removed when it is being fresh and clean and simple. I want warmth and safety and happiness in my clothes and this collection reminds me of that.

Okay, enough fangirling. I just wanted to record my sincere fondness of a high fashion collection because very often I look at them and forget them immediately afterwards because I see no emotional connection to them and I have no way of attaining their looks myself. This is different though and I see everything here are approachable and it makes me really happy inside.

Hope you're all well and safe and happy my sweets. Stay fly.

New hair

Just a quick update, sorry! Since I know the internet is strangely invested in my hair, here is a picture. It has taken me about two weeks to get it light enough to go green, and even the ends are not perfect but it's ok. My dad did a great job and was really patient with me through the bleaching and dyeing, and Topher @ ARROJO did such a wonderful job cutting, as usual. :)

Obsessed with nail wraps, also. These are Nail Rock wraps, the brand I swear by for Nail Wraps. A lot of them are on sale on ASOS so if you've been lemming for easy nail art, try these! I like them a lot.

Be Your Own Hero

No outfit post today, just a video I did because I wanted to do a video and someone suggested I do one on self confidence. So here it is! Oh, if you didn't know, I have pink hair at the moment because I'm trying to go blonde enough to go green but it's not working very well. Ah well.

Ok I don't have much else to say hahaha I'm going to go watch Snow White & The Huntsman and deal with my crush on Kristin Stewart luvz ya bye
